Jesus, Buddha, and Isaiah say to feed the hungry while the Canton
Health Dept. threatens people with arrest for this action.

Please give feedback on this story to
starkhealth.org/contactus.htm
Health Dept Director: Wm J Franks
franksb@starkhealth.org

CANTON Margaret Hughes first noticed a gray cat in her 10th Street NW
neighborhood about two years ago.

Tugging at her heartstrings, the feline cried for attention and begged
for something to eat.

Unable to resist, Hughes set a food bowl outside her house. A pillow
and blanket were tucked into a wicker basket for a bed. She named the
cat Ghost, and limited the animal to the outdoors since she had an
indoor cat.

Another cat entered the picture later. She fed that one, too, once in
the morning and once in the late afternoon.

"I was just trying to save the cats from starving to death," Hughes said.

Then the 69-year-old got a notice from the Canton Health Department on
Jan. 6 ordering her to stop feeding the cats and to remove the bed. If
she doesn't comply by Monday, Hughes would be expected to show up for
a hearing, and could face up to a $100 fine and 90 days in jail, said
Law Director Joseph Martuccio.

"They always seek voluntary cooperation," Martuccio said.

Hughes, meanwhile, sees little harm in feeding the cats, saying she's
"trying to do something humane."

"I felt bad for the cats because they're on a porch meowing," she
said. "They're hungry, and I fed them."

Still, Hughes said, she's complying with the order, removing the food
bowl and bed.

(Jackie Godbey of the Humane Society in the following quote sounds more
like a dogcatcher than a humane society official)

Food dishes can attract raccoons, skunks and rats, he said. Food left
for cats also can lead to a colony of the four-legged creatures, said
Jackie Godbey, assistant director of the Stark County Humane Society.

The city and county health departments do not pick up strays. Neither
does the Stark County dog warden's office, which refers inquiries
about stray cats to the Stark County Humane Society.

The Humane Society accepts cats and puts them up for adoption, Godbey
said.

"They are the most important resource we have for cats," Wade said of
the agency.

People who have strays or want to get rid of a cat should not dump
them in rural parts of the county, Godbey said.

"They'll see a barn, a farm and they'll take (cats there), and they
don't think that 800 people have done that (in the same area) over the
years," she said.
it is: “The new emergence of road show nobility ”.
Live variety entertainment delivered directly to your
it! The Bindlestiff Family Circus is in it! Buy the
Sounds like this:

Burlesque inspired, hair on fire, electrified cartoon
music played by a well dressed jug band in a dark
circus tent with a man swallowing swords and hobo
rambling poetry . Oh yeah, and did I mention the
dancing girls, dancing girls, dancing girls!
In Ohio, by law, five citizens per county, only five, have the right to call for a recount.

Randy Rhodes, on a screed all afternoon on Wednesday, kept arguing that we, the citizens, are now the only check and balance left. To play that out, citizens should fight this election result. Our leaders won't (and as I said, I can understand why), so why can't we?

Why shouldn't we? Its our election, its our democracy.

Email Ohio Dem Chair Dennis White: dennis@ohiodems.org

and ask the Ohio Dems to organize 5 citizens per county to call for a recount. it is their legal right. and their duty to the disenfranchised.
Man...........................George Caleodis

Story by.....................George Caleodis

Director of Photography......Miguel Baldoni Olivencia

BIOS:

George Caleodis - George spent over one year on the main stage of Second City Cleveland and attended the Second City Conservatory of comedy in Cleveland, Ohio. George has performed stand-up comedy, improvisational comedy, and has appeared in over thirty short films, movies, commercials, and voice-overs. George is currently the creative director of Out of Our Heads Improv, Columbus, Ohio's premiere improv comedy troupe.

Holly Magnani - Holly got started in the indie movie scene because someone said that she couldn't do it. Not to be double dog dared, she jumped in with both feet. Holly has perfomed in seven or so short films in two years including several Sonnyboo Productions. Having a photography background, she decided to move to the other side of the camera and a new passion was born.

Miguel Baldoni-Olivencia - Miguel's eye through the camera cannot be beat. Whether it's DV or 16mm, Miguel creates exactly what the director wants and does so beautifully with whatever is available. The epitome of indie movie maker, Miguel's ideas are never ending and his images are wonderful. Miguel is also an improv comedy veteran, a member of Out Of Our Heads Improv, and a helluva guy.

Jenna Magnani - Jenna is a seven year old German Shepherd dog that was abruptly abandoned by her first family. Holly was the unsuspecting new owner. For four years Jenna has been constantly trying to outwit Holly and has succeeded only once. Jenna is a mild mannered dog with tons of personality that appears to come through in her debut performance. Not one of Jenna's action in the film was coerced, except sitting. She kept lying down and going out of frame so she had to be told to sit. Never a diva, Jenna's performance was completely natural. She did eventually get some chicken.

Hey folks. I am putting this out on many different tribes post to invite as many people over as possible.
If it doesn't seem as if it is on topic (it's community building and political) with your tribe I apologize. I'm sending it where I think the people that will be interested might go.

The tribe is called Renaissance Farms and the idea behind it is to get people connected. We have let too many politicians and corporate types run things for too long. I wasn't a big Dean supporter but it shows what you can do with the internet and a little imagination.

I am going to use this tribe and a website that I am currently working on to try and connect a LARGE group of like minded people together. I had originally said that this was for people from the the " Left to FAR Left, Libertarian, Progressives, Dems and Open Minded Republicans (yes they do exist)" although all views are welcome as long as they aren't hateful. (All that really maters is that you have a mind open to what is possible, which is anything. Oh yeah. The no Hateful still applies) It is about taking back some of the economic power.. The idea is to to keep the money within the group(or demographic or tribe or among people that vote similiarly or whatever you want to call it).. I am going to set up a website for the state of Ohio that will be a kind of directory of liberal links and businesses that are owned by people with a more left leaning attitude. Yes that is a divisive and partisan way to set something up but I have found that people on the left are more likely to give "experiments" and "crazy projects" a chance. If you have a different opinion i'd be glad to hear it. I've already been called on it by one person (Right leaning Libertarian)and learned something new.

A good example is that say you were going to donate money to a political campaign. Then there was storm and a tree fell through your roof. So now that money needs to go to fix your roof. If you go through a service provider that has similar political beliefs then it is possible that some of that money may still go to the same causes that you support. It is just closing up the system to a degree. .(Yes we already have some sites like these but I have not found any that are anywhere comprehensive enough)

There are an endless number of organizations and businesses in each state but they have never been put into one place. So I will get numbers and contact info from people like Stonewall and environmental groups, Unitarian churches, NPR affiliates and other organizations (Political Orgs-Dems, Green, Libertarian, do Anarchists organize???) and every kind of business that I can think of. The GLBT community has the Lavender pages (some are the Pink pages). Same concept. So now I need to start compiling a list of these groups and places. If you know any please start a list and pass it on and I will make contact to get all of the necessary info. It will take some time to get a comprehensive site going but I will keep the members of Renaissance Farms notified of progress as I go. I have posted to see if there are people in other Ohio cities that can help. Then once it is up and running it can be a place for people to find service providers and organizations. Then we can create sites for other states and group them together under one site. Make connections. And eventually it can be more. One importatnt thing will be the quality of the markeing blitz that we put out.(no not superbowl ads or even what Moveon.org does) We can use conventional marketing to get the word out. Things like the Alternative Papers. Booths at festivals and Bumperstickers. It's drive with which it is done that matters.

How many people do you know that are trying to run painting companies or freelance web design so that they can control their time and spend more with their families? How often would one sale make the difference between their staying in business or not. The stronger each individual is the stronger the whole. If a person has more time, money and less stress then there is a better chance that they will work to improve their community and world. I would prefer to give them my business than give it to someone that I have no connection with. We have to take care of each other just as the Conservatives have. Ours can be a community with all ethnicities and creeds, orientations and leanings. All that matters is an open mind. And the stronger each individual is in the community the stronger the community.

If you know anyone else that might be interested then pass along the info. The bigger it gets the more power it will have to change things and educate people (humanities, arts, history, even business and economics). THe more we all know and know about each other the better.

Peace
Andy

I hate snow shoveling. It is spawn of Satan, and my arms hurt. I also hate idiot drivers who think snow is the scariest thing EVER. Snow shoveling stinks. Ice stinks. Most drivers stink. And even more annoying this snow is all crusty so it's not even good for skiing!@#!! *grumble*
